J is for Junkie
You know you're a junkie,
Just like me.
You can't get enough.
It started out that you just needed a quick fix,
One a month,
Maybe two.
But then you realized that you crave it all the time:
While you sit in the car waiting
To pick the kids up from school;
At the dentist office;
In the quiet minutes before you fall asleep.
You think about it in the shower
Or while you cut the vegetables for dinner.
It's worked it's way into your veins,
Infected you.
haha, is this about coffee---very interesting poem!
ReplyDeleteIt sure could be about coffee. For me it's about books.
ReplyDeleteFor me it's writing
ReplyDeleteYes!!! Me too :)
DeleteYes. I am constantly strategizing what I will read next!
ReplyDeleteI have been infected since childhood. Sometimes it flares up and is worse, sometimes it's not so bad. But I'm afraid it's there for life. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this, Kate. Yes, I've been infected by books since I was a kid, and I wouldn't have it any other way!
ReplyDeleteI'm a junkie over many things, books included. Book can overcome my life to where I stay up until the wee hours of the morning to finish a book. Yes, I also do cardio while reading. Why not multi-task. Great poem. :)

For me it's books and biscuits! Oh, and maybe running.
ReplyDeleteGreat poem, Kate.
Biscuits?!? Now I kind of want to be your new best friend...
DeleteSo true! I'm always itching to pick up the next book, and I have to slap my hand away from novels when I have work to do (waaaah, why won't the dishes clean themselves?). I need to switch to audiobooks or something so I can get my 'fix' and still be productive.
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteI spend more on books than shoes - and that is saying something.
Mmm. Hmm. You got that right.
ReplyDeleteI was torn while I was reading. For me, it could be books OR sugar. ;-) A great book AND chocolate, and I wouldn't know what to do with myself.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
That's what I am, eh? Lol. I'll take it! I need to get more books this month :)
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely about books... paperbacks to be specific...
ReplyDeleteOr it could be coffee...
Or it could be popcorn (the stove-top method, NOT the microwave version...)
Or it could be----------
I'll settle with books!
